In 1979 an indoor soccer team arrived in Wichita, Kansas and over the ensuing decades made the color orange a fashion statement AND an identity.
Wichitans, when spotted wearing an orange satin jacket, ball cap or T-shirt displaying the iconic logo had an instant commonality: they spent many cold nights in northern Sedgwick County getting hoarse as they cheered Iron Mike, The Tiger, The Rocket and El Indio onto victory against Steamers, Sockers and Comets.

They weren't just soccer fans.
THEY WERE WINGS FANS.
The Wings have returned to Wichita but I hope that this website will serve as a time capsule where the memory of the Wings' glory days will always remain. The original franchise and era meant too much to the citizens of Wichita to remain a continually- fading footnote of history.
If you spent those cold winter nights
at the Kansas Coliseum in the 1980s, you know that...
...the Wizard is a Danish scoring star (and NOT a Harry Potter character).
...angels wear orange and blue spandex (and not white robes).
...the mere mention of the word Steamer or name Don Ebert raises your blood pressure.
...above all, your blood still runneth ORANGE.
Most importantly this is a place for everyone to share their own memories, pictures and stories.
